Workers forging flange production technology

Release Time:2024-12-19
Our workers will select the appropriate billet material according to the flange size specifications, and use cutting equipment (such as sawing machines) to cut the billet into roughly appropriate sizes. The billet is placed in a heating furnace and heated to the appropriate forging temperature range, which varies depending on the type of steel, usually around 1000 - 1200℃.

Our workers will use forging tools such as air hammers or electro-hydraulic hammers to perform operations such as upsetting and drawing on the heated billet. For example, upsetting is first used to reduce the height of the billet and increase the diameter, and then drawing is used to adjust the size of the flange. For flanges with holes, punching operations are also required. If it is die forging, workers will first put the heated billet into a pre-made mold, and apply pressure through a press to form the billet in the mold. The die-forged flange has higher dimensional accuracy.

For the forged flange blank, use a cutting device to cut off the excess burrs. For flanges with holes, precise punching operations are also required to ensure that the size and position of the holes meet the requirements.

Workers put the flange into a heat treatment furnace for heat treatment such as normalizing and tempering to improve the mechanical properties of the flange, such as improving strength and toughness. The sealing surface, bolt holes and other parts of the flange are processed on the machine tool. The sealing surface of the flange can be processed by a lathe to achieve the specified flatness and finish; the bolt holes are processed by a drilling machine to ensure the accuracy of the holes.
